Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.
A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.
These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.
The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
