Cancellieri Shows Flashing Moments of Exceptional Talent in Positive Aspect for Haywire Lazio

The feeling at their home stadium was decidedly gloomy on Saturday afternoon. Lazio were trailing against Torino, a team that had conceded ten goals while scoring only two in their last five league matches. Ultras from the Curva Nord were concluding their ongoing dissent in an ongoing feud with club owner Claudio Lotito.

This Year's Efforts Coming Unstitched?

Had their campaign falling apart, or did there exist a thread holding it together to start with? They reappointed Maurizio Sarri to lead the team this summer, before he admitted that the club had failed to disclose a ban on new signings they were set to be hit with for accounting issues. Speculation that he could resign were unfounded, but he stated that Lotito had "misled" him.

The Roman club became as messy in their performances as off the field, beating Verona 4-0 and Genoa 3-0 but falling short in the rest of their first five games, including the Rome derby. Throughout this period, it's been difficult to tell if they're getting better or imploding.

The Youngster's Unforeseen Presence

At least one man continued to smile amid the chaos. Matteo Cancellieri had not been expected to remain with Lazio during this campaign. He was on last season with Parma on loan and, early this summer, his owning club were advocating for him to stay there for another season. The registration embargo led to a change of plans. The club couldn't risk to weaken their team lacking backup options.

Cancellieri arrived originally under Sarri's first spell, at that time a 20-year-old graduate of Verona's academy. He accumulated 20 Serie A appearances for Lazio in that campaign, almost all of those from the bench. The ex- sporting director, Igli Tare, whose tenure ended after that campaign, subsequently claimed Sarri of "promising everyone Cancellieri would be a star only to bench him consistently."

Discovering His True Position

Perhaps the manager was continuing to attempt to work out the exact type of his skill set. Originally described as a flank player on arrival, Cancellieri nevertheless spent most of that campaign as an unconvincing alternative to Ciro Immobile at No 9. In 63 appearances during spells with Empoli and Parma in the past two years, he scored seven times. Shoehorn
